Architecture Management Definitions
Model Element
Resources that are discrete addressable elements of a typically larger model of some behavior or construct of a system under development. A model element maintains its identity after refactoring.
Architecture Management Resource
A generic resource or artifact used in the Architecture Management domain. This might be a UML model or UML model element. It can also be a simple file, excel spreadsheet, or any other resource that can be streamed in or out of a repository.
Link Type
The semantic interpretation for a relationship between two resources (link). A link type is a first class resource itself. It include information like an identifier, label and description. Link types may also reference or imply integrity rules (i.e. a link can only be used between a requirement and a UML Package).
Resource Link
A relationship between two resources (each uniquely addressable via a URI)
Resource Collection
An ordered or unordered set of resources, typically generated as the result of performing a query or search.
Impact Analysis
Analysis in order to understand the ramifications of actual or proposed changes to higher-level requirements. In this way the impact to the system, or aspects of its delivery can be assessed and acted upon.
Model Collection
A model collection is a collection resource containing references to model element resources. The semantics of the collection maybe as follows: A model element may be present in more than one collection at a time. The lifetime of a collection and the lifetime of a model element is not constrained by this specification; specifically, deletion of a collection MAY result in the deletion of the collected model elements. The collection is closed: that is, model elements which are not stated to be a member of that collection are to be interpreted as NOT belonging to that collection
