At the meeting of March 25th we agreed a path ahead to transition to a new structure.

Discussion

A new Embedded Systems User Group will begin this Friday 19th April. A charter has been defined and circulated.

We will wait for the transition of Core.

Rainer provided an update on the dialog with INCOSE.

Clarify at tomorrow’s Cfg Mnmngt WG that the agreed handover of topics from Feb 11th is adequate. Request also if there is any opinion on the timing of the conversion of the ALM-PLM WG to a User Group.

OSLC User Group plans

Rainer described the proposed User Group structure and approach being proposed by the OSLC Steering Committee to fit in with the transition to OASIS. http://open-services.net/wiki/steering-committee/OSLC-User-Groups-Reference/

This approach has some merits to enable us to extend the community aspects of ALM-PLM Interoperability without the burden of the WPA.

Our conclusion is to prepare a proposal for agreement by the ALM-PLM Interoperability Workgroup as follows:

1. Transition the ALM-PLM Interoperability Workgroup to an OSLC ALM-PLM User Group

2. Transition the Product Definition technical work to a Product Definition Work Group to finalise a first OSLC PD Spec in 2013

3. Using the agreement reached with the OSLC Cfg Mngmnt WG split the activities across 1, 2 and the OSLC Cfg Mngmnt WG

4. We will consider how to support and differentiate the new OSLC ALM-PLM User Group in line with topics like embedded software and HW/SW codesign

We will review this in detail at our next meeting using the minutes of Feb 11th

Then we will take that forward to the OSLC Steering Group.

INCOSE collaboration

Rainer has been in contact with John Nallon and plans are in place to formalise the relationship. Rainer will provide more information in 2 weeks.

Need for versioning with the target scenario

Consistent versioning support is necessary for OSLC to be able to support the target PLM scenario A systems engineer responds to a change in requirements.

The scenario begins with a product (or system) and associated requirenents and their associated, satisfying, implementations at some definied state; a change request is applied (i.e changes are made to relevant and impacted items) and their version identification are updated to signal completion of the change, with approvals. Version handling of the OSLC resource used in the scenario is needed, namely CM, AM and RM resources plus the new proposed PM resource that supports Products, Product Versions and Product Views.

Additional notes on the scenario:

Typically all items are under version control including the Change Request which may evolve during its evolution and approval.

The system or product context is the prevailing configuration, including variants.

The state of requirements and implementation is simplified as multiple constituents will go through various and multiple revisions before State 2 is achieved.
