Hi All,
I agree (naturally :)!) with John's suggesting of providing the information
Andreas put forward as guidance for the communication UG.
It would be great if we could get a list of events that we all think would
be good to tag an OSLC Connect workshop to. That way we can begin to
identify the right ones we might want to target and then approach the
organizers to see how we can make it work.
I would suggest that the IBM Innovate UK (or whatever name is applied to the
event) might be a good test case for an OSLC Connect event to be attached
to. As this conference will still be in the planning phase during or after
Innovate in the US might be a good idea to see whether there could be
support from Innovate events team in the UK.
Just some musings that I am throwing in the mix for general feedback and
discussion.
Cheers and best
Bola

Andreas (and Bola): I support your thoughts here, and believe this shows
promise. Let me try to distill and elaborate the essence:
* Our target audience is two-fold:
1) Technology / Solution Provider who want to do OSLC based
implementations to provide interoperability or to make their own tools
interoperable
2) End User Companies who are looking for standards to make their
(IT, Systems/Software Engineering, etc) platforms & processes better
integrated. These Companies want to select and influence promising standards
and want to push their (tool) suppliers to adapt the right standards.
* Establish a one 1-day workshop, advertised as "OSLC Connect", and
associated with an existing ALM event. (For example, before/after Innovate
UK, one before/after ALM Summit, EclipseCon, etc)
Further idea: We could establish a series of these workshops if
successful.
* The workshops will share expert opinions on best practices, patterns for
using OSLC, successful experiences. (I suggest the experts are invited).
Any additional feedback? I believe we should provide this as guidance to
the Communications UG for their subsequent planning and execution.
take care,
John

Subject: [Oslc-steeringcommittee] OSLC Connect 2013
Dear all,
This morning I had a conversation with Bola about the OSLC Connect idea.
One topic we discussed, was the question raised by John yesterday: who is
the target audience ? what do we want to achieve with that thing.
In general I see two major groups which we need to address with OSLC
(regardless of the OSLC connect event)
1) Technology / Solution Provider who want to do OSLC based implementations
to provide interoperability or to make their own tools interoperable
2) End User Companies (like EADS) who are looking for standards to make
their Systems/Software Engineering platforms & process better integrated.
These Companies want to select and influence promising standards and want to
push their (tool) suppliers to adapt the right standards.
When I talk to my executives about OSLC, I immediately get the questions:
?how many tools already have an OSLC interface?? and ?what do our partners /
competitors do??
If we get presentations about OSLC best practices in large companies, OSLC
based roadmaps regarding the ?integration challenge?, this will bring added
value the potential OSLC Large End User Community is interested in and
getting nowhere else. These people also love some analysts talking about
OLSC and the future?
Regarding Technology / Solution Provider, I believe it?s more about ?get
started? with OSLC, Training and technical FAQ. Of course also the business
value perspective ? see attached slide presented at IBM Pulse from an IBM
Business Partner.
If we?re able to address these topics, OSLC Connect can bring added value,
the community can get nowhere else!
However, Bola and I discussed lengthy about the community and their
potential commitment to travel to a conference. It could be that it might be
too early for a full standalone/isolated conference. We just recognised that
thanks to our OASIS migration we got lots of new attendees, but let?s not
overstretch this.
Bola and I thought about attaching the OSLC Connect conference to another,
e.g. the IBM Innovate in UK (usually in October/November). I?m not saying
that we shall do a co-hosting, but doing our event just the day before/after
the IBM event (or whatever other event we may want select).
This gives us an additional marketing channel to advertise our Con and a
wider audience for which it is more attractive to combine two events. On top
of this we can push our own community as well.
Personally I think the OSLC Connect idea is a great idea, as we have to
increase our visibility and give our community a real forum!
So please feel free to comment & give your feedback on our thoughts / the
OSLC Connect topic.
Best regards,
Andreas

Hello Steering Committee:
I'm requesting on behalf of the Performance Monitoring Working Group an
approval of the OSLC Performance Monitoring V2 specification [1] and a
subset of Estimation and Measurement (ESM) V2 specification [2] to
transition to final by email.
Note: Since PerfMon needed almost exactly the same vocabulary terms drafted
in ESM, they worked with ESM and Core WGs to finalize the needed subset [2].
The Core WG is satisfied with this specification [3], an Implementation
Report is available [4], and a Test Suite [5] is in place.
As stated in the Bylaws, a super majority vote is required [6]. Therefore
4 "+1" replies on this thread, are needed to approve the OSLC Performance
Monitoring V2 specification. If we do not receive those replies before an
upcoming StC meeting, I will request to take some agenda time to cover this.
While 4 "+1" replies are required to approve the Specification, please don't
hesitate to add your +1 even if you are the fifth or sixth to do so.
Special thanks to Julianne Bielski (OSLC PerfMon WG Lead), Arthur Ryman
(OSLC ESM WG Lead) and the rest of the PerfMon working group for the
contributions.

steering committee
Sent by: "Oslc-Core" <oslc-core-bounces at open-services.net>
Core team,
Per the April 10th core meeting minutes (
http://open-services.net/wiki/core/Meeting20130410/), I had the following
to-do's to finalize the Performance Monitoring Domain Specification 2.0:
PerfMon is requesting to go final
Need to list additional implementations, only have 1 provider but are at
least 3 consumers that are known of Need to list test suite (and also work
to merge in contribution) Update text in beginning of document to remove
?red? text warning about version numbering to match that of Recon spec
In the implementation reports I now have 1 provider and 4 consumers and I
have updated that link accordingly.
The test suite code has been checked in and re-validated and and
implementation report created Requested text updates to the spec have been
made
